Endless List of Reasons To Admire Silent Hill:
#4: Maps
I’ve always loved the hand drawn qualities of the maps. The majority of them are sketched from scratch, and the notes added in by the protagonists are a nice addition. Taking care to add these notes and reminders (like where certain items and save points are located) have always helped to make the maps feel all the more real. Just look at how James drew in the strange scaffold and noose in the prison map. No other games care to highlight simple things like that, and even of they do, they certainly don’t waste effort adding it to the map.
In most games, the maps are just a means to an end, an emotionless guide escorting you from point A to point B. But in Silent Hill, the maps have always been an extension of the characters, a personal note in an unusual place.
Plus, I love the fact that the ONLY maps (at least in the original games) that are printed and true are those of the town itself. The buildings you visit are hand drawn, but the town’s maps are always legit.
And if you’re wondering about the Sanitarium map, I included it because not only do I adore that area in Origins, but the building is actually based on a real mental hospital (and each room is exact.)

That’s all you had to say.
I actually think AA/AC Joker is probably one of or if not my favourite Joker.
Mark Hamill should always be Joker.. Even in live action films, they should dub over the actor with Mark Hamill.

Having to reblog again as so ridiculously excited!
Not a huge FPS guy, but this looks to have real possibilities…
Haven’t had a chance to do much of any gaming in several months, so I took a break, grabbed the new Devil May Cry and made it an all-nighter.
I was one of the skeptics who questioned the new, different-looking Dante design for the new DMC. SO glad I didn’t let that keep me away. Not only was this one kickass great game, it might be one of the best in the series. At a minimum, I put in on par with 3, for both story and gameplay.
Full Disclosure: Guess this means I need to finish 4 now…
Sometime if I’m feeling really pretentious, I’ll share my ideas on how the Angel-Demon-Nephilim mythology of Devil May Cry is an apt representation of how the key to self-overcoming and breaking the boundaries of our potential lies in mastering both the “Dark” and the “Light” within ourselves. “TAME THE DEMON::TEMPT THE ANGEL” and all that. But that’s a lecture for another day.
If you’re a Dante fan, get it.
Not sure if people are fully aware of the upcoming Novus Aeterno yet but this game looks just plain sick. The universe strikes me as Sins of a Solar Empire meets EVE with a touch of Warhammer 40,000.
I’ve barely had time to touch any games in the last year or so. But I’m watching the development of this. It looks mesmerizing.
